Mountains landscapes are dynamic.  You are either lucky with great weather, fortunate with mixed or threatening weather, or just out of luck.  If there are mountains near you, then you benefit from seeing them at various times of the year.  Here is a shot of Wetterhorn (a neighbor of The Eiger) with the setting sun and another mountain at my back.  The sun emerged under the clouds to ignite the face of The Wetterhorn and set glaciers ablaze in a warm orange glow.  This only lasted for a few minutes.
