The Alps are sprinkled with mountain huts – Hütten in German.  These huts are hosts to many hikers and climbers throughout the year, and are geared towards those who are serious Alpinists, serving breakfast at 4am before a summit push, for example.  The Trifthütte is no exception.  This historic hut (early 1900’s), poised with commanding views over the Trift Glacier, is at an elevation of 2520 meters and a 3 hour hike to the nearest trail spur.  For more about this fantastic location as well as additional photos visit this post, or if you want to see more on this area check out this stunning bridge attraction.  This photo was taken just below the hut on our morning descent.
