Basel has officially kicked off the 546th fall festival and it is not to be missed! Herbstmesse started on Saturday, October 29th at 12:00 and will come to an end on Sunday, November 12. To make the most of this incredibly festive event, grab your coats, fill your wallet and head out the door to one of the following locations: Barfüsserplatz, Petersplatz, Münsterplatz (our two favorite spots) Kasernenareal/Claraplatz, Messeplätze and/or Messehalle 3.
Be prepared for crowds, as Herbstmesse attracts over 1 million visitors from Switzerland, Germany and France, but with the smell of sausages and wine, flammkuchen, and beer, visitors can fill their bellies and appease their senses.
Do not forget Robi Spiel (Kinder – Ferien – Stadt Herbst) will be located in Peterplatz from the 29th of October through the 15th of November. With candle making, pizza eating, rides and loads of fun, this is a win – win for children and parents alike.
Oh, and mark your calendars for the Basler Weinmesse from the 29th of October through the 6th of November. Located in the Messe Hall 2, this is an incredible opportunity to sample wines from all over the world and makes for a perfect date night. The Weinmesse is open from Monday through Saturday from 15:00 – 21:00 and Sunday from 12:00 until 19:00. Tickets cost CHF 18 per person at the door or CHF 14 when purchased online. Enjoy!
Have fun and enjoy this special time when Basel comes alive and begins its slide into the holiday season!
